Mt. Vernon Baptist Church

OUR STORY

We are so glad that you have taken time to visit our website and are getting to know us better.
We are a Historic Southern Baptist church located in the horse country of Woodford Co. Kentucky. The church is located at 1220 old Frankfort Pike in Versailles, Kentucky which is just minutes from downtown Versailles, Lexington, Georgetown, and Frankfort. The landscape surrounding the church is dotted with hills and pastures that are home to some of the worlds best thoroughbred horses and while the scenery is great we believe the people are even better.
Our church was established in 1822 and we are looking forward to celebrating our 200 year anniversary in just a few years. We were blessed in 1874 to have James P. Boyce and John A. Broadus both preach in our facility and were able to donate to the cause of moving The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to Louisville. Although our history is important to us, we believe that what God will do in the next 200 years is even more important and we look forward to and embrace the challenges and changes that are to come.
Our congregation is striving to be a multi-generational congregation and it is our desire to honor God by connecting all people to Jesus Christ and serving the world for Jesus’ sake. Ultimately, our desire is for everyone to come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD because He is worthy of all of our worship.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or, better yet, come check us out in person and see what God is up to in our community. We would love to sit down and answer any questions you might have.
